Spreading Happiness

I don’t think there was ever any doubt that the pandemic would have a lasting impact on our children but with new reports being released from Ofsted, it seems we are now having to face the reality of the aftermath of the pandemic.

In particular many young children are still having challenges with development after spending so much of their lives communicating with adults who’s facial expressions were covered, their usual routines in upheaval and spending far less time interacting with other children than would have been considered the ‘norm’ pre- pandemic.

When we created our Happiness Range we did so with the intention of supporting young people with their mental health and encouraging healthy strategies for dealing with the ups and downs of life. We never anticipated that that would include a global pandemic but non the less these products were created with love for this exact purpose.

Our Happiness Cards have 32 positive statements for children to read if they are able to read, or for an adult to read to them if they are not, each with a beautiful, relevant illustration. The cards encourage meaningful conversation, inspire happy thoughts and allow the child using them to feel more empowered and confident.

In today’s world of uncertainty, teaching children to practice positive affirmations can make them feel like they have the power to influence their own thoughts and behaviors.

Ed Green PhD, expert in child development said that “A child can be introduced to using affirmations to become grounded in important values. Those values could be friends, family, academic goals, creative outlets, hobbies, or sports — whatever it is the child cares about,” says Greene.

According to the latest Ofsted report ‘Education recovery in schools: spring 2022’ The pandemic’s impact on some pupils’ mental health and well-being still remains a concern. Leaders talked about pupils having lower levels of resilience and confidence, and increased levels of anxiety.

As parents and humans, we find this so concerning and upsetting and naturally we want to do all we can to help. It has always been our passion and our mission to spread as much light as we possibly can and provide practical and accessible tools to people to help them with their mental health and create a happier and more harmonious life. Now more than ever we are dedicated to this.

As well as our Happiness Cards we created a Happiness Journal which is a 52 week journal aimed at primary school children, designed to uplift and inspire. It is a safe space for children to record their thoughts and feelings and is packed full of happy quotes and positive activities that help to promote self-belief, instill confidence and increase overall happiness and well-being.

Although we do sell these to individuals, our main customers for this product so far have been schools and children's homes.

This product has so much potential for supporting young people in this wake of this difficult transitional period for them. If you are a school or you interact with children in any capacity please contact us and ask for our wholesale brochure as we offer these products at a lower rate for these types of establishments.

Our children have lived through so much in these last two years and I don’t think we will ever know or understand the full impact it has had on their development and well-being. All we can do now is try to pick up the pieces as best we can and spread as much happiness as possible.
